My name is Naemi van Thoo, you can call me Amy.
I am from the Hague, a city based in the Netherlands.
I was a Fashion Design student at Mondriaan in Amsterdam and graduated as a Fashion Designer in 2007. I never got a job in that field but I started a study in Social Work last year. In 2009 I decided to start my own business in handmade fashion, arts and craft.
I've been making and creating things for as long as I can remember. Most of the things I created were just for fun when I was still schooling and after I graduated I started to experiment on it, and was thinking of doing it as a career. But I was not able to do it because of a lot of reasons which was why I did other jobs to support myself. I did a lot of experiments back then with fashion, arts and crafts that helped me built the skills that I have now.
I only started doing this business professionally in 2009. I figured this would be a great way for me to express my creative side with the limited budget I had at the time. I started small and had very limited tools and skills. I had to invent my own technique and tools to create my designs. I had to do it my way due to the limited budget. I went through really tough times and struggled with the business initially. I gradually improved my business and skills over time. I learned things mostly through experience, thousands of experiments and lots of research and networking with other designers locally and from overseas. This has helped me tremendously to improve my business and also my designs through the years. I owe what I have now to a lot of good friends whom I've met online who have helped me so much in improving my artwork. I am truly blessed to have such good support from these people and for that I'm truly grateful. May God bless them!
Making accessories, jewelry and crafts was never really my dream but being able to be creative in what I do for a living is a dream come true. It didn't really matter what I do specifically......as long as I get to express myself creatively. It could be on paper, fabric, or any kind of medium.
I'm constantly learning about crafting and designing and the process never stops. There is just so much more out there to explore in this field and it's so exciting to discover the new techniques and the different gadgets that are available for me to play with.
Do support me in this journey and help me make it a joyful one too! Thank you for visiting and for following me. I do hope that your visit here has given you great pleasure.
